LIEDERKREIS is a London based music theatre company
formed to develop unique pieces of chamber theatre:
installations and interventions in the concert hall,
site-specific environments and on film - with classical music
as core component.
The company's last production, a radical new version of Francis Poulenc's 'La Voix Humaine', was OPERA NOW magazine's choice in winter 2007:
"A revelation.. Conjuring heavily oppressive atmosphere from little more than darkness, a few bedside props and some taped passing trains...'La Voix' was transformed into a squalid, bedsit drama, unadulterated by heroic grandeur, with the audience on its knees, not just emotionally but morally. I’ve seen a lot of 'La Voix Humaines' but this was the first to leave me on the edge of tears. It was superb" (Michael White).
Projects in development include a London concert series of Mélodie, an exploration of choral propaganda and a short film about music and genetics. Further details of each will appear here shortly.
